HOOPS
v17 is currently in Alpha review by HOOPS customers, which means we’re
less than 2 months away from final release. Among the highlights of
this release are; major performance gains for rendering large models
(yet again!), import of new file formats such as Sketchup & PTX/PTS
for point clouds, integration with DGNdirect libraries from the Open
Design Alliance, additional shader-based rendering techniques and
an integration with the Adobe
3D OEM Platform for reading 25+ popular CAD formats.

Exa
Corporation, based in Burlington, MA, USA, develops, markets, and
supports simulation software for the fluids
engineering
marketplace. Exa’s products and services enable engineers to
create competitive designs, while shortening product design cycles
and improving time-to-market. Several years ago, Exa turned to HOOPS
to help improve visualization in select Exa applications and continues
to expand their reliance on HOOPS as their graphics engine across
their product line.

“Our applications are graphically-intensive in nature – we simulate the details of fluid flow around complex 3D geometry. It’s critical that we provide our end-user analysts with high-fidelity, high-speed, real time visualization and HOOPS has been our graphics engine of choice for many years. In addition we are using Tech Soft’s HOOPS library with our soon-to-be-released ground-breaking simulation pre-processing tool and are pleased with the level of performance even on the very largest 3D models.” |

HOOPS Advanced Functionality Workshop **NEW**
Location: Berkeley, CA
Date: November 18 - 21, 2008
Our first-ever HOOPS ADVANCED FUNCTIONALITY WORKSHOP in October was full, so we have scheduled another event to accomodate demand. At this 4-day session HOOPS developers will learn how to optimize their use of the HOOPS API and fully leverage new capabilities to make dramatic improvement to their graphics performance and extend their application’s capabilities. This is a unique opportunity to extend your knowledge of HOOPS, get valuable one-on-one consulting attention and meet the HOOPS development team.
In
order to better serve the rapidly growing community of Tech Soft customers
in Europe we’ll be moving into a new office in Kendal, Cumbria
UK – the gateway to the beautiful Lakes District. From our new
offices overlooking the River Kentimages.jpg we’ll be able to
host customers for training and consulting as well as handle logistics,
sales & customer support. We’ll look forward to having you
visit our new location after we move in at the end of this year.
Members of the Tech Soft 3D Team travel to all parts of the globe to talk to developers about TS3D Components. Below is where you can find us in the next couple of months. If you'd like to arrange a meeting or set up a conversation with us, simply email us at: info@techsoft3d.com

Peter
Kane
Consulting Engineer - European Region
We’re pleased to welcome Peter Kane to our European-based Consulting Engineering team. Prior to Tech Soft, Pete was a key developer for an innovative CAD technology that brought together 3D Modelling, Simulation and Shader-based rendering that has been adopted by automotive companies, from the USA, Europe, Japan and Korea. As well contributing to the core technology, Pete was responsible for linking the system to major CAD systems such as CATIAv5. Always driven by exciting and interesting opportunities, and at heart an engineer, Pete brings a combination of software project experience and technical expertise to Tech Soft. His experience and expertise will help us continue to assist new customers.

Using
HOOPS Cylinders and Polycylinders
These 2 implicit HOOPS primitives offer several advantages
over using the HOOPS ‘shell’ primitives for cylindrical
objects, including a smaller memory footprint, faster rendering, and
the ability to represent
solor-interpolated polylines.
