Peter Kane Peter Kane is a CAD industry veteran, bringing many years of experience of CAD and Computer Graphics to Tech Soft. His involvement with CAD began with a Mechanical Engineering degree at the University of Leeds in the UK, followed by a few years working on, Solids Modeling and Robotics software at Leeds and working on the Production Automation Project at the University of Rochester, NY. After picking up a Ph.D he decided it was time to leave the cosy environment of the campus and think about entering the real world, spending the next year thinking about it while he backpacked around the real world. Returning to the UK, he started work for a small software company on the development of architectural software. A year later, Pete and the rest of the development team were looking for new jobs after the project overran and the company ran out of money. Learning from this experience, Pete takes the philosophy of being laid back about life but serious about software development. Pete than went on to join a small computer graphics startup, which grew to be one of the worlds leading suppliers of computer graphics and machining simulation technology for the CAD industry. During this time he gained extensive experience in developing and supporting software toolkits. He worked on and led integration projects with major CAD vendors in Europe and the USA. The experience of working for both software component suppliers and application developers has given him a good understanding of the issues involved in adopting component technology. Prior to Tech Soft, Pete was a key developer for an innovative CAD technology that brought together, 3D Modelling, Simulation and Shader-based rendering that has been adopted by Automotive companies, from the USA, Europe, Japan and Korea. As well contributing to the core technology, Pete was responsible for linking the system to major CAD systems, such as CATIAv5. Always driven by exciting and interesting opportunities, at heart an engineer, Pete brings a combination of software project experience and technical expertise to Tech Soft. Peter lives close to the Peak District National Park in Sheffield, England with his partner and two children. In the past he has traveled widely and hopes one day to persuade his children of the benefits of backpacking versus the attractions of Disneyland. Outside work, he is an avid reader, interested in history and 5-a-side football and the occasional pint after the game. |
